MADE at NYU Langone Health
MADE (Medtech Acceleration, Development, and Education) is a Dean’s Initiative at NYU Langone Health building a single, connected system for inventing medical technology and getting it to patients. It brings together three things that often sit apart at an academic medical center: a training program for inventors, an accelerator that moves projects toward commercialization, and the engineering capacity to actually build them.
MADE is where NYU Langone Health turns clinical insight into medical technology and clinicians into inventors.
Built on a Proven Track Record
MADE is a new initiative at NYU Langone Health, but its approach to innovation education is not. Since 2024, the Department of Surgery’s Medtech Pipeline Program has supported multiple cohort teams in developing mentored innovation projects across surgical specialties. Each cohort culminates in a competitive pitch event, where teams seek funding to advance their ideas. MADE expands that model into a larger, more ambitious program that draws on the insights of experienced industry leaders alongside clinical and academic expertise. MADE launches with an approach that has already been tested and refined at NYU Langone, reinforcing the institution’s readiness to lead in clinician-driven innovation.
