NYU Langone Health Appoints Dr. Kevin Sampson as Director of Corporate Engagement in Newly Created Role

February 10, 2026

NYU Langone Health has appointed Dr. Kevin Sampson to the newly created role of Director of Corporate Engagement within Technology Opportunities and Ventures (TOV), signaling a major step forward in strengthening and expanding the institution’s partnerships with industry.

This appointment comes as NYU Langone’s new CEO and Dean, Dr. Alec Kimmelman, makes industry engagement a strategic priority for the institution, underscoring the health system’s commitment to building deeper, more integrated relationships with corporate partners that advance research, innovation, and patient care.

In this role, Sampson will lead efforts to develop and manage corporate collaborations across the full spectrum of NYU Langone’s research and clinical enterprise, from individual sponsored research agreements to large-scale, multi-disciplinary strategic partnerships.

“The goal of this role is to make it easier for our faculty to work with industry and to help grow those relationships beyond one-off projects,” Sampson said. “By taking a more integrated, institution-wide approach to engaging industry partners, we can better align our clinical and research strengths and create collaborations that are more impactful and enduring.”

A central focus of Sampson’s work will be bridging traditionally separate pathways for industry engagement in research and clinical trials. He will work closely with researchers, department leadership, and administrative partners across NYU Langone to help ensure that industry collaborations are developed holistically, leveraging expertise in both the lab and the clinic to build deeper, more sustainable partnerships.

Sampson will also serve as a key point of contact for faculty already in discussions with industry, offering strategic guidance, relationship management, and visibility into existing institutional partnerships that may create new opportunities for collaboration. A similar corporate engagement role has recently been established at NYU, and Sampson will work closely with newly appointed Adi Gottumukkala to coordinate and align industry partnerships across the broader NYU ecosystem.

Trained as a biomedical engineer with experience spanning pharmacology and translational science, Sampson brings a rare cross-sector perspective to the role. Over the past three years as assistant director of Therapeutics Alliances, NYU Langone’s drug accelerator program, he has worked extensively in technology advancement and licensing, building strong relationships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies focused on early-stage research and co-development.

“Kevin was an important part of the recent growth and success of our Therapeutic Alliances program, and his scientific background, combined with his deep experience working with industry, uniquely positions him to help NYU Langone grow meaningful, high-impact corporate partnerships,” said Marc Sedam, Vice President of Technology Opportunities & Ventures. “This role reflects our commitment to a more integrated academic medical partnership model and aligns with Dr. Kimmelman’s vision to expand NYU Langone’s engagement with industry in ways that accelerate innovation and benefit patients.”

Looking ahead, Sampson plans to organize company-specific industry engagement events that bring major partners to campus to explore collaboration opportunities across multiple disease areas and research domains. He is also collaborating with internal and external teams on innovative tools to proactively match NYU Langone’s research capabilities with industry needs.

Faculty who are in discussions with industry or seeking to establish sponsored research agreements are encouraged to involve Sampson early in the process. By engaging with investigators at any stage of industry conversations, he can help identify existing relationships, align efforts across NYU Langone, and uncover opportunities to strengthen or expand potential partnerships. Sampson is also available as a resource for faculty with questions about new industry engagement, partnership structures, or next steps.
